- Amelia Earhart was born on July 24, 1897, in Atchison, Kansas. Amelia spent a lot of her early childhood with her maternal grandparents, since her Mom and "Dad" (not biological) were constantly on and off.
- In the 1910's Amelia volunteered as a nurse's aide for the Red Cross. During this time Earhart developed a strong admiration for aviators and spent a lot of her time watching the Royal Flying Corps.
- In 1920, at a Long Beach air show Amelia took a 10 minute plane ride, and this was what transformed her life!
- In 1928, Earhart took part in a non-stop flight across the Atlantic. She became the first woman to perform this feat! But Amelia was still not satisfied yet!

- Their first stop is Honolulu!
- On March 17, 1937, Amelia took off from Oakland, California, with Paul Mantz, as her navigator and Frederic I Noonan as her co-navigator.
