  • We had no idea that WWI would be like this, I hope we are taken care for risking our lives when this is over!
  • Let us, as the Congress of the United States in this year of 1924 promise our WWI soldiers a bonus to be paid out in 1945 for their service efforts!
  • Oh Walter! what are we going to do?
  • There are no jobs, moral is awful, we are selling apples to survive during this Great Depression. I am due money from congress as a WWI veteran so my family does not starve and become homeless. I am going to rally my fellow soldier veterans to organize a Bonus March on Washington and demand early payment for fighting for this country!

  • We are hungry!
  • There is word that a group of WWI veterans are organizing a march on Washington! They are demanding early payment for their bonus money promised for their veteran service efforts, but it is only 1932 and it is not due until 1945. The federal treasury is bankrupt and we need to put a stop to this communist behavior.
  • General McArthur! President Hoover does not want to send the army in.
  • Oh well, Major Dwight Eisenhower said that President Hoover is too busy for orders and so we need to protect us from these greedy communists.
  • All Bonus Marchers are being ordered to leave the encampment on this side of the Anacostia River by the United States government to maintain law and order. Leave now as your camp will be seized under fire!
