- EXPOSITION :Rhea Silvia visited by Mars in the temple of the vestal virgins. She bore twin sons who threatened the position of her uncle, Amulius ,King of Alba Longa CONFLICT: Amulius wanted the 2 boys killed . The infants were left to die on the Tiber river. Their basket was saved and ran aground
- RISING ACTION : A she –wolf found the crying babies and fed them with her own milk. A woodpecker brought them food to eat A shepherd discovered them and brought the 2 infants home to his wife. They raised them as simple shepherds, naming them Romulus and Remus. Climax: Remus was imprisoned after an argument with the kings shepherds. Romulus gathered others to help rescue his brother. Amulius was killed and Romulus and Remus discovered their true identities.
- FALLING ACTION :their supporters wished to crown them as joint kings but they reinstated their grandfather, Numitor. RESOLUTION: Instead,2 brothers decide to found a new city along the Tiber River ,near where the she-wolf had found them. This city would later become the great city of rome.
