  • The third estate declared itself as the National Assembly, but the king did not recognize this estate as a true government body so members retreated to the Royal Tennis Courts, where they took the Tennis Court Oath. A pledge that they would continue to meet until France had a new form of government.
  • Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen
  • The Fall of Bastille was when a big mob attacked the royal prison and fortress know as "the Bastille." On July 14, 1789, the mob attacked Bastille and was captured. Bastille fell.
  • King Louis and Marie Antoinette on Trial
  • October of 1789 a rumor started that Marie Antoinette was hoarding grain somewhere in the palace and in what became know as the women's march were a bunch of armed peasant women stormed the palace and demanded Louis and Marie Antoinette to move from Versailles and to Paris.
  • Reign of Terror 
  • The Declaration of Rights of Man and Citizen was a document that protected property, ensured trial by jury, and guaranteed free speech. It read in part that men are born and remain free and equal in rights. This also included freedom of religion.
  • DECLARATION OF RIGHTS OF MAN AND CITIZEN  
  • the Nations Conventions decided that the king should be tried for his crimes against the country and by one vote sentenced to be executed(he died January 21, 1793, and Marie Antoinette was guillotined in October).
  • The Reign of Terror was a period during the French Revolution after the First French Republic was established in which multiple massacres and public executions occurred. 40,000 people were executed.
