  • I'm sure it will go away soon. We can get it checked out tomorrow if you would like?

  • The next day
  • Dentist Office
  • Post Office
  • Hey buddy, what's going on.
  • I think I know what it is.
  • Something at the back of my mouth hurts, it feels like something is growing in.
  • What's a vestigial structure?
  • Kids around your age sometimes grow what we call wisdom teeth at the back of your teeth. Not everyone gets them but they are a vestigial structure.
  • That's kind of cool, what are other examples of vestigial Structures.
  • A vestigial structure is various cells, tissues, and organs in a body which no longer serve a function. The reason we sometimes grow wisdom teeth is because our ancestors adapted to their environment and since they often ate chewy plants or uncooked meat, they grew a third setour of molars
  • Another good question, whales have a pelvic bone in the back of there body that serves no purpose.
  • Are humans the only living things that can have a vestigial structure?
  • Good question, other examples in the human are the tailbone and the appendix.
  • The End
