  • Ever since Emma started Math 3, she's been noticing a bunch of math problems in her everyday life. Although it has helped her with her math class, she does not necessarily enjoy solving these problems all the time.

  • Like right now, Carlos had been talking with a classmate when he knocked his eraser off his desk. Emma knows that the desk is about two feet high. She also noticed that the eraser fell at approximately a 60 degree angle. She wants to know how far away the eraser is from the desk.

  • If we are trying to solve for the opposite, and we know the adjacent, we would want to use TOA. To do this we would use the equation: tan60* = (X/2)

  • To solve this equation, we would first need to isolate X by multiplying each side of our equation by two. When we do this we get rid of the 2 in the denominator and are just left with X. Then, we multiply tan60* by two. What we are left with is our final answer.
