  • Music was no stranger to the battlefield. Many a song had been writ detailing the glories and horrors of war. The Civil War was no different. Thousands of songs popped up made for a variety of people. Some were made for the soldiers, some for the civilians, many claiming the ensured victory of one side or the other. And, because of the pettiness of Americans, many songs written for either the north or the south would quickly have a new rendition made for the opposing side. Many famous songs including Taps, The Battle Hymn of the Republic, and Dixie's Land were written for the Civil War. There was also a new wave of African American culture through song because of the increased amount of freedmen and enlisted African Americans in the Union army. THere were even musicians fighting on the front lines, inspiring troops, and even picking up weapons to fight.

  • RETREAT!
  • Wha...? What's happening?
  • We're in the middle of a battle, sir!
  • RUN!!!
  • The noise of battle was so loud, the man could barely hear himself think. But all of a sudden, something broke out over all the clamor.
