- My journey as a red blood cell to the nose.
- The right atrium contracts, pushing me through the tricuspid into the right ventricle, it then contracts, pushing me out of the heart through the semi lunar. After leaving the heart, I travel through the pulmonary artery to the lungs where I pick up oxygen. I then make my way back to the heart via the pulmonary vein into the left atrium. The left atrium then contracts and pushes me through the bicuspid entering the left ventricle. The left ventricle contracts, pushing me through the semi lunar and out of the heart into the aorta.
- From the arch of the aorta, I travel to the brachiocephalic trunk. I then go to the right common carotid artery, into the right external carotid artery.
- I then go to the facial artery and into the lateral nasal artery. I then travel through the capillary beds to exchange gasses so I can begin my journey home.
- As I return, I go to the lateral nasal vein to the right facial vein. I then go into the internal jugular, then to the brachiocephalic trunk. From here I go to the superior vena cava and back to the right atrium.
