  • Faber explains to Montag his green bullet, a listening device. After agreeing to a plan to frame the other firemen, Montag sets off home with Faber in his ear.

  • Angered by Mildred's visitors and their conversations, Guy brings out a book of poems to read, much to his wife's dismay and horror. Faber, who is still in his ear, does not agree with this. After the reading, Mrs. Phelps is brought to tears and Mrs. Bowles is extremely angry.
