- All of the animals in the outback were dying of thirst except the male goanna's .All of the male goanna's had a secret water source that they wouldn't tell any of the other animals about. This behaviour made the female goanna's very embarrassed because they were their husband's.
- The female goannas's came up with a plan to find the hidden water source to serve all of the other animals. Once they decided who to send, they went on the journey to find the water source.
- Girawu the goanna had been looking out to the mountains when she fell, she woke up with a tribe of first nations people standing around her. This startled her very much. The first nations people then took her to their elder.
- Once she was taken to the elder, Girawu was told that she must warn all of the other animals to run into the hills. Girawu did this and returned, the elder then told her to shove her yam stick into the rock and run for her life. Girawu did this and ran.
- As Girawu ran, the water roared behind her, destroying everything in it's path.
- Once Girawu arrived back she saw that the water had now filled all of the rivers. The male goanna's camps had been destroyed by the waters. The wives decided never to be the husbands wives again after their behaviour. The wives then turned into teals and flew off into the sunset.
