  • Asha de Vos is a marine biologist and blue whale researcher who grew up in Sri Lankan, an island of the coast of India.
  • Asha de Vos went to school at St.Andrews in Scotland, The University of Western Australia, and Oxford. She got her degree in Marine and Environmental science. She is also the first woman to get a Ph.D. in Marina Mammal Research.
  • Asha created the Sri Lankan Blue Whale Project in 2008 which is like Save the Whale organization created in 1977. This organization protects whales in their habitats while Asha's project focuses more on the research and "long-term study" of whales (mostly within in the Indian Ocean).
  • Asha's research has discovered more about whales and how many purposes they have not only in the ocean but in our entire earth's Ecosystem. For example: Whale caracauses - support thousands of organisms when they sink down to the bottom of the ocean or when they float to the surface they feed all kinds of animals like sharks and seagulls.
  • In Asha de Vos's Ted Talk she intruded a uncommon concept about whale poop. She explained how whales, by just eating and pooping, can fertilize a ton of surface ocean. The nutrients their poop holds contributes to building a healthier ocean
  • One day Asha de Vos hopes that we can live in a world where we can see whales more often and learn to appreciate them. She wants us to see and learn from the world's natural beauties before they are lost.
