- Lung cancer is basically when the cells in your lungs start growing at an uncontrolable rate affecting your lungs and their perfromance. Sometimes the cancer could spread from one part to another. Which is why it is good we caught this early!
- One of the major reasons for lung cancers is smoking. Somking takes a huge toll on the lungs as the tobacco contains more than 7,000 chemicals! Another factor could be secondhand smoke. Other sbustances like radon, asbestos, arsenic, diesel exhaust could increase the chances of lung cancer. Furthermore, if any of your family memebers had lung cancer it could be passed down.

- This being said we are going do everything inorder to prevent further irritation until treatment day. So inorder to lower the risk I need you to quit smoking, I know it's going to be hard but you must. Next don't be anywhere near secondhand smoke. Finally get your home tested for radon and be careful at work. Wearing a face mask could help!
- There are also other ways to treat it for people with non-small cell lung cancer. For them we use surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, targeted therapy. Now along with your treatment it is expected that you maintain a healthy lifestyle by not smoking or experienceing secondhand smoke and the other chemicals that were mentioned.
- Alright, today is treatmeant day! There are 4 main ways to treat lung cancer depending on how far it has spread. Since yours is small cell lung cancer we will be using radiation therapy where high-energy rays are used to kill the cancer. Along with that we will do chemotherapy. Over that if needed some medication can be given through pills or in your veins where it kills the cancer.
- There are about 236,740 new cases of lung cancer every year and of them 130,180 die. Usually lung cancer occurs among older people espcially in the black and white communites. For a man the risk of them developing lung cancer is 1:15 while for a women it is 1:17 and this varies depending on if one smokes or not.
- REFLECTIONThe making of this comic strip took me to explore many articles inorder to get a significant understanding of what lung cancer consists of. I've learnt that the major cause for luing cancer is not only smoking but also secondhand somking! One could possibably develop lung cancer if they are even just exposed to the cigret smoke of someone smoking.I've also learnt how the doctors determine what type of treatment they would use on one for lung cancer. It was interesting to know if a patienmt has a non-small cell lung cancer doctores use surgery or even targetted theraphy along with chemo and radiation. While if they have a small cell lung cancer then just chemo and radiation might be enough.
