  • God has blessed with this child Solomon, the covenant of God must be fulfilled. I am now chosen by God to be king we will all follow the word of the Lord.
  • A while later Samuel the prophet dies. Saul consults a witch to call Samuel from the dead. Instead Samuel predicts Saul's death the following day. Saul along with 3 of his sons die in battle with the Philistines. David did not witness the defeat of the Israelites under Saul, who was badly wounded by the Philistines, his sons were killed. In an act of heroism the king of Israel would not be captured, Saul committed suicide by falling on his own sword.

  • Ahinoam of Jezreel, was the second wife after Michal. Ahinoam is the Mother of David's 1st born Amnon. Ahinoam Abigail were with David during his stay with King Achish of Gath. David married Abigail because he was attracted to her, she was the mother of his son Chileab. Maacah, the daughter of Talmai king of Geshur was David's 4th wife. She bore him his son Absalom, he with 3 darts through the heart was killed by 10 of Joab's armor-bearers. Haggith was David's 5th wife, mother of Adonijah. He was born at Hebron during the long conflict between David the House of Saul. Abital was the 6th wife had David's 5th son Shephatiah. Eglah David's 7th wife had Ithream, They claim that she was David's favourite wife because she was as beloved to him.

  • Bathsheba was Davids lat wife, their first child died as punishment from God for David's adultery and murder of Uriah (Bathsheba's husband). David repented his sins, and Bathsheba later gave birth to Solomon. He spent the rest of his life regretting it. In one psalm he expressed his mental torment pleaded for forgivness. The royal covenant was made with David, the promise was When thy days are fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, that shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom. He shall build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom for ever.

  • After David repented all his sins he wrote 70 psalms sacred songs to God that are still sung today by Jews and Christians. The psalms involved the praise of God for his power and beneficence, also for his creation of the world and for his past acts of deliverance for Israel. An ancient document found in Palestine claims that David wrote over 4000 songs. Tradition = 73 of the 150 poems of the biblical book Psalms to him as well. The Israelites were inspired by David and liked him as a king a lot. He conquered Jerusalem, which he made Israel's political and religious centre. He defeated the Philistines so thoroughly that they never seriously threatened the Israelites again.

  • David became king at the age of 30 after Saul died in 1010 BC. David reigned over Judah for 7 years in Hebron, then Israel Judah in Jerusalem for 33 years, 40 years in total. King David made Solomon his heir apparent, he said Assuredly Solomon my son shall be kind after me and he shall sit on my throne in my place (1 kings:1). David died at the age of 70 and reigned from 1010–970 BCE.

King David chose Solomon to become king out of all his sons heir apparent because the word of the Lord came to him telling him to do so. Due to his many sins were unworthy of building God's temple. God chose Solomon from before his birth as the first who will build the temple and reign over Israel. King David died at the age of 70 due to natural causes.
