- At the beginning of the chapter, bud was at his tree sleeping but then bud heard someone steps on a stick he stayed under his blanket and got his knife out and he was ready to run or stab. Whoever it was had jumped on bud and bud was ready to stab but then he found out it was bugs. He found out because bud said "If you ain't a kid called Bud from the home I'm really sorry about jumping on you like this.
- In the middle of the chapter, bud and bug were at the big fire and were trying to get some rest for the next day. Bug was out really fast but bud was not able to go to sleep. Bud was thinking about if dezas mom was right. Dezas mom said " someone who doesn't know who their family, is like dust flying around in the storm.
- At the end of the chapter, Bud tries looking for deza and her mom but had no luck because of all of the kids crying. It was so loud because of how many people were arguing and Bud just gave up because he was still on the lam. He rushed back to the mission so that he could get some breakfast.
