  • Man vs. Man
  • "I was thinking of my father. He would be suffering more than I" (Wiesel 58).
  • Man vs. Self
  • " The snow was piled high, the blocks windows were veiled in frost. Holding a shoe in my hand, for I could not put it on my right foot. I ran feeling neither pain nor cold" (Wiesel 82).
  • Man vs. God
  • "On the contrary, I felt very strong. I was the accuser, God the accused. My eyes had opened and I was alone, terribly alone in a world without God..." (Wiesel 68).
  • Elie's father had gotten beat. He was also a victim of Idek and Franek.
  • Man vs. Nature
  • "Don't let yourself be overcome by sleep, Eliezer. It's dangerous to fall asleep in the snow" (Wiesel 88).
  • Elie has to decide to go back to the hospital and stay or get separated from his father. The doctor had told him he needed to get some rest and stay off of his foot.
  • Man vs. Society
  • He started off as a religious boy and started not to have much faith later in the book. Elie was suffering a lot and his faith didn't get any better since he felt alone and mad at God.
  • Whenever you fell asleep in the snow it basically meant death. Sleeping in such cold weather made their bodies way weaker.
  • "Strip! Hurry up! Raus! Hold on to your only belt and your shoes.. Our clothes were thrown on the floor at the back of the barrack.... For us it meant true equality: nakedness" (Weisel 60). They all have to strip in front of each other and this shows that it would go against how society would do thing. It also makes them all feel equal.
