- Autumn and Tyler are siblings but they are FOILS of each other. Tyler is very social and outgoing with many friends and Autumn is very to herself and only had a few friends.
- Sylvia and Tomas are FOIL because Tomas is a trouble-maker with bad grades and Sylvia does very good in school and is very gentle.
- The conflict in this book is Man vs Self because Tyler lives inside his own head and makes himself think that everyone is against him when they are just trying to help him. He comes to the school with a gun to kill anyone who has ever done him "wrong."
- The resolution out of the conflict is that he shoots his sister, Autumn, in the knee and himself in the head after the
- Flashbacks are a very common literary term in this book. It is told in each point of view from the main characters. In this flashback, it's Autumns and it was the first time Tyler was abusive to her after their mother had died. He slapped her across the face then spit on her and said she was the reason their mother was dead.
