  • Government Reforms:What were the problems? The problems were immigration, urbanization, suffrage, prohibition, and industrialization. What was done to solve the problems? The progressivist strived to create a more transparent and fluent government giving equal rights to all. Who solved the problems? Thedore Roosevelt.
  • Labor Issues:What were the problems? What was done to solve the problems?Who solved the problems?
  • Womens Rights:What were the problems? Though women were given the right to work, they still were not allowed the right to vote. What was done to solve the problems? Women participated in strikes, chained themselves to fences and wrote on walls. Carrie Chapman Catt led the NAWSA a membership about women's suffrage. Who solved the problems? After many efforts by the women and Carrie Chapman, Wilson gave in and supported suffrage by allowing them the right to vote.
  • Immigration/Urbanization:What were the problems? African Americans were still treated poorly as though nothing had changed since the civil war such as being segregated, beaten, living in poverty and working as sharecroppers/tenants. What was done to solve the problems? Many blacks took matters into their own hands and travelled up North for better opportunity and often wrote to family members of the better way of living. Who solved the problems? President Harding was elected and declared he wanted normalcy and a steady order of things for all which created a more easy-going era.
  • Prohibition:What were the problems? It was argued that alcohol would cause democracy to be more powerful and pure as well as production of alcohol needed bushels of grain which took away from food resources. What was done to solve the problems? An amendment was passed to ban the selling and consumption of alcohol, the 18th Amendment. Who solved the problems? Congress solved the problem as they passed the 18th Amendment.
  • Muckrakers/Crusaders:What were the problems? They were group of individuals who exposed issues within companies, businesses and political issues.What was done to solve the problems? The Pure Food and Drug Act was created on account of the Muckrakers creation of novels like "The Jungle".Who solved the problems? Theodore Roosevelt.
