  • The British were on a mission to capture Louisbourg which protected saint Lawrence river. The river leads to the Quebec colony. The British made their first move by blockading the harbor, they scrambled onshore with their cannons.
  • September 1759
  • The fleet settled in for a long siege after cutting off the town from the Landward side. The people watched the British as they sank their ships, they were cut off from supplies and reinforcements. The British shot cannon balls onto the fort as the people weakened until they finally surrendered after seven weeks.
  • September 13 1759
  • After The British General, Wolfe, and his troops captured Luisbourg in Nova Scotia, they set their sites o Quebec city. They specifically targeted Ile de Orleansbecause it was the only undefended area in Quebec city.
  • September 14 1759
  • The French spotted the British fleet and decided to sink them using fire ships. The plan failed becausethe British had decided to intercept the fire ships before they reached the British fleet.
  • The British decided to attack the position near Montmorency Falls at bowport, this was a complete failure. The british tried again by taking his army in small boats down the river to where cliffs were steep. The French sentinal asked who was there.
  • In response, a british soldier said "francais." The trick worked, Wolfe continued to climb the cliff along with the others. At the top of the cliff, they captured the french position. As dawn arrived, the british army was positioned in front of Quebec city (Plains of Abraham.)
