At the Castle the messenger returns to say Benedick performed well during the battle, however, Beatrice insults Benedick

Leonato says both Benedick and Beatrice insult each other as a way of hiding their feelings toward each other.

I had rather be a canker in a hedge than a rose in his grace
After the members meet the men who came back from battle, Claudio talks to Benedick telling him that he loves Hero and that he has an idea of making Hero his bride
The servant tells Leonato that Don Pedro wishes to propose to Hero but he feels skeptical and plays it off as a dream until the proposal actually takes place.
Tell hero about this so she can prepare for an answer
Don Jon is in a bad mood and Conrad thinks this situation should make him happy, however, he feels there's not a lot to be happy about.
