- lennie and George arrive on the first bus too soledad expecting the bus to go up the trail to the farm too. finding out that the bus doesn't go all the way up the trail and begin on their way on foot
- Later while they head up the trail and begin walking for awhile when the bus passes them and begins to curse at the bus for being lazy and lying to them. later night begins and starts to roll in so they need to find somewhere to rest for the night
- lennie and george soon comes across a creek where george sends lennie to get fire wood, while hes coming back george hears the water and knows it is lennie and hes drowning another mouse later when he comes back george scolds him while lennie tries to lie about it, so george goes on a rant about how much better his life could've been if he didnt have to baby lennie. they then eat and go to sleep for the night
- later in the morning they finish making their way up the trail to the ranch where they go to meet their boss
- later after curly's wife comes into the bunk house looking for him, curly himself comes in and notices george and begins to get in his face so george begins arguing with curly
- later on they relax for the night playing cards while candy is sad because his dog can no longer come inside anymore becuase he stinks
