  • Pina is a lazy girl. She just wanted to play all the time. She does not like helping her mother at home.
  • Pina! Can you help me with the chores?
  • Nanay, I don't know how to do it..
  • One day, Aling Rosa got sick. She called out Pina to cook some porridge for her. However Pina wouldn't listen.
  • Nanay, do you really expect me to cook? That's too hard.
  • Pina. Come over here my child, can you cook porridge for nanay? I am sick...
  • ''No, mother. I cannot find the ladle."
  • Pina's mother expected her to cook but then she heard her opened the backdoor and started playing again so she finally stood up.
  • You probably did not even bother to look for it! You lazy child! I wish you would grow a thousand eyes! Maybe then you can find what you're looking for. And maybe then you won't have many excuses!
  • Pina, did you cook like I told you?
  • The next day, Aling Rosa could not find Pina. She feared that her daughter might never come back. Then, she noticed a strange plant growing in the garden. She realized that her angry outbursts cursed her daughter. Pina had turned into a plant with many eyes. Aling Rosa took care of the plant, and named it "Pinya" in honor of her beloved daughter. And that's how the pineapple came to be named after a spoiled child who was cursed to have a thousand eyes...
