- Good afternoon Mr Watson, I'm here regards to the worker's strike that was happening outside. The workers have lot of grievances so they sent me to come and discuss them with you.
- First of all, this is my restaurant and what happens here, occur on my basis not theirs but I'll let you finish.
- At the office
- Can you please calm Mr Watson, I understand this is your restaurant, but you had a contract with your employees .You can't just decide on your own because of everything happens under your wing so I urge you to please listen to what I brought.
- Okay, t's alright you may speak but please get straight to the point and be short.
- The shop steward knocks at the manager's office.
- At the office
- First of all, the employees are complaining about their underpaid salaries that they did not get before getting retrenched and they are claiming that you didn't even explain to them why they are fired, they want an explaination from you.
- The shop steward is in the manager's office to discuss about the employees grievances.
- At the office
- I hear you Mr Watson but you did not communicate with us about that but fair enough what about the Covid relief fund that the government promised?
- The shop steward tries to calm down the manager and the manager listens.
- At the office
- It is always good to communicate with us so that such things like strikes could be avoided but I will go back to the workers and explain.
- The shop steward explains to the manager about the worker's grievances and wants an explanations after addressing the worker's complaints.
- Due to Covid-19, the company has not been making profit therefore I had cut their hours and pay them what they worked for even, and their work pace has been slow so I had to fire others and employ new passionate employees.
- The shop stewards digs deeper about the Covid-19 relief fund for the employees who were underpaid and for those who were retrenched.
- It is stated in your contract that you get paid for the hours you worked, why should I explain that.The relief fund is still processing.You will recieve it in your next pay.
- The meeting ends and the shop stewards will meet up with their fellow employees and explain what they discussed with their manager.
