  • Jupiter asks the gods why Trojans and Latins are fighting when he commanded otherwise. Venus blames Juno, begging that Ascanius be saved to fulfill the destiny of Rome .
  • VENUS : Please save Ascanius at least to fulfill the destiny of Rome, Aeneas can die in a storm
  • JUPITER : Why is there discord against my express command amongst the Trojans and Latins
  • Juno plays innocent (she sent the Fury Allecto.) She also rants that Jupiter's anti-war complaints came too late. Annoyed, he pledges not to interfere - The Fates will decide
  • To Juno : SO be it. The war shall proceed
  • JUNO : Well it was Aeneas' choice and the Fates! He brought war to a peaceful land...and Venus caused the Trojan war !
  • Aeneas sails back with the Etruscan fleet as Turnus keeps Trojans pinned at the fort. Soldiers clash on the beach and no one can stand against broad-shouldered Aeneas. Pallas kills many enemies but is killed by Turnus, who takes Pallas' golden sword belt as a trophy.
  • TURNUS: Fortune speeds the bold. Pallas is mine, and mine alone. I wish his father were here to see it.
  • The rumour about Pallas' death is heard by Aeneas. Aeneas goes into a killing frenzy and frees the Trojans from the fort. Raging, he even takes several Latins to sacrifice for Pallas's funeral. He kills men who beg for mercy, insults and makes fun of some corpses.
  • No, I beg you.
  • AENEAS : JUST DIE !
  • Juno is scared that Turnus will die a 'cruel death' so she speaks to Jupiter weeping What if you listened to me and let Turnus live? Jupiter allows it, but it will not change his fate. Juno sends a phantom of Aeneas down from the heavens and Turnus chases it to the boat, which Juno lures away from the battle.
  • Turnus : I really want to die
  • Juno : No see your father first
  • King Mezentius, an Etruscan king fights in the absence of Turnus. Mezentius fails to wound Aeneas, but Aeneas successfully does. Lausus, the son of Mezentius protects him and dies. Mezentius, guilty, returns to duel with Aeneas but also dies. His last words were let me lie in the grave with my son
  • To Mezentius : Fine since I am pious
  • Mezentius : Bury me with my son Lausus
