  • Ibn Battuta's family members were all scholars and Ibn had a goal to further his education as well. However, there were no places for higher learning in Tangier. So he decided to travel to find education.

  • Ibn Battuta rode a donkey out of Tangier to Mecca. From there he left for Baghdad and traveled through Afghanistan to India.
