  • Drew - Hi and thank you so much for allowing me and my group of inventors to be guests on your show. Our group focuses on the desalination process. For those who don’t know, desalination means the process of removing salt from seawater and making it drinkable. This process can be beneficial in many cases, however, we have noticed a flaw in the process, the brine disposal.
  • Berenice - Brine is a high-concentration solution of salt in water. At the end of the desalination process, brine is returned to the sea. Heavily concentrated brine solution that gets discharged into the sea from the desalination plant has the potential to kill marine organisms. We want our environment to stay healthy and safe, so we came up with the idea of disposing brine into evaporation ponds.
  • Evan - So what exactly are evaporation ponds? Evaporation ponds are shallow, lined earthen basins in which concentrate evaporates naturally as a result of solar irradiation. We want to put brine disposal into these ponds so it can evaporate naturally, causing no harm to marine life. The only problem now? We need to raise enough money in order to make this plan possible. Call 1-800-901 or go to our website to donate and help our environment become a better place.
