  • Macduff (Beginning)
  • "I’ll make so bold to call, For ’tis my limited service. " (2.3, 64-65)
  • Macduff's Shift
  • Let us rather Hold fast the mortal sword and, like good men, Bestride our downfall'n birthdom. Each new morn New widows howl, new orphans cry, new sorrows Strike heaven on the face, that it resounds As if it felt with Scotland and yelled out Like syllable of dolor. (4.2 2-8)
  • Macduff Now
  • I have no words. My voice is in my sword. Thou bloodier villain Than terms can give thee out! (5.8 7-9)
  • At the beginning of the novel, we can see that Macduff was very loyal to Macbeth and trusted his actions. Not only that, Macduff, like any other noble, is loyal to the crown and the King of Scotland.
  • When Macbeth ordered the killing of Macduff's family, we can see a very large shift in Macduff's behavior because Macduff was already suspicious of Macbeth, and the brutal murders of his family only underscored and confirmed these suspicions.
  • After uniting with Malcolm, Macduff is desperate to get revenge on Macbeth and avenge the death of his family.
