- In this scene, Ponyboy gets followed by a red Corvair by the greasers inside of it. on page 4, Ponyboy says "I about decided I didn't like it so much, though, when I spotted that red Corvair trailing me". He also was saying what had happened in the past to Johnny and why he got scared after seeing the red Corvair trailing him.
- In this scene, the socks in the red Corvair mug Ponyboy. On page 5, it says "One of them laughed, then cussed me out in a low voice. I couldn't think of anything to say. There just isn't a whole lot you can say while waiting to get mugged, so I kept my mouth shut."
- In this scene, Darry finds Ponyboy mugged and beat. In the book, on page 6. It says "Then someone had me under the armpits and was hauling me to my feet. It was Darry." Are you all right, Ponyboy?" Says Darry. The book also says "He was shaking me and I wished he'd stop."
