  • Mr. Frank hands over the prayer book to Mrs. Frank. She reads a little more. After, Dussel thanks the Franks for reading and felt much gratitude. They explain to Dussel how they open presents and take part in Hanukkah traditions.
  • It was just a thief. The sound must have scared him away. He took the cashbox and radio. He was in such a rush, the street door was left open.

  • A few minutes after Anne tells the families to wait for her...Anne comes out with a lamp shade on her head. She passes out gifts as a sorry for her attitude the last few months in the Secret Annex. Everyone is surprised by her kind gesture and is grateful to have presents for Hanukkah.
  • Oh, Hanukkah! Oh, Hanukkah! The sweet celebration around the feast we gather in complete jubilation happiest of seasons now is here many are the reasons for good cheer.
  • A crash from downstairs can be heard. Peter, without moving from his spot on the ground, tries to turn off the lamp light and falls. The families become extremely silent in fear. Mr. Frank goes downstairs to see who it is. Anne falls to the floor from anxiety and stress, Mrs. Van Daan finds money for bribery, Dussel gets mad at Peter, and Mrs. Frank recites words from the prayer book.

  • Mr. Frank returns into the Annex. Anne gets off the floor and rushes over to him. Everyone eagerly waits to hear what he has to say.

  • The relief of the sound just coming from a thief swept over the room. Mr. Frank suggests that they sing a Hanukkah song. They celebrate that God let them survive through another challenge.
