- In 1986, 56 women from various backgrounds came together to correct the imbalances between men and women in Fiji. It's 2021 and the Fijian Women's Rights Movement are a leading feminist movement in the Pacific.
- My name is Nalini Singh, and I am the Executive director of the Fijian Women's Rights Movement. I have had over 20 years of experience but most of it has been overseas. I have been back in Fiji now for four years to improve women's rights closer to home.
- To raise awareness FWRM has carried out a Gender Equality Campaign focusing on four key areas including; women in leadership, women and unpaid household work, women in sports and women in employment
- As apart of this campaign, FRWM spoke on these issues on national television and the radio to show a wider audeince what women regularly go through.
- We have also made submissions to the Ministry of Education addressing the gender pay gap, sexual harassment in the workplace along with other issues facing women.
- And with our "Girls Can Do Anything" campaign we spoke at schools teaching kids about feminism!
- We have come a long way in our 35 years, but we will never stop until there is equality for people of all gender identities!
