- Jack murders Bod's family.
- Bod goes to the graveyard.
- Bod meets Silas.
- The man Jack breaks into a family's house at midnight while the family is sleeping. He pulls out his knife and kills the lady and the man. He then kills the little girl. He goes to kill the little baby boy but realises he escaped.
- Bod meets a new friend.
- Bod escapes and goes to the graveyard. At first he is very scared until a tall man and a pale lady comforts him. These people were Mr and Mrs Owens. They were his new parents.
- Bod gets taken by the ghouls.
- Bod meets Silas, his new caretaker and guardian. Silas will protect and teach Bod until he grows up. Silas is not dead or alive. Silas will always make sure he is safe.
- Miss Lupescu saves Bod.
- Bod was wandering around the outside of the graveyard when he met a young about his age named Scarlett. They talked for a while and became friends. She was Bod's one and only friend.
- A group of ghouls come down to the graveyard and take Bod to hell. This city is called Gulheim. They are taking him to their boss and trying to convince Bod to join them.
- Bod jumps off of the building and starts falling through the sky. Miss Lupescu realises Bod is in danger and turns into a giant flying dog. She flies up into the sky and catches Bod on her back while he was falling and saves him.
