  • while sitting in my home alone, I heard a knock on my door and at the door was a messenger of the court who handed me a summons to testify.
  • upon arriving at the courthouse, I met with my stepfather who was alarmed by the appearance of my hair and gave me a hat to get back to the Aryan side without any issues.
  • fearing that my hair would give away my identity as a Jewish boy, I ended up being taken to a barber who i suspect understood why i was there and got a zero haircut to blend in.
  • i eventually ended up staying a farm with a nice family, my job on the farm was to tend to the goats, one day while i was tending, a couple of boys shouted at me saying "Look a jew."
  • A few days after the incident at the farm, my stepfather and mother took us to a town 150 miles south of Warsaw and we stayed in a small home with a railroad nearby, we lived quietly and with little anxiety.
  • however, one day while on the railroad delivering something to the local post office, a man on the train accused me of being a Jew and demanded i come with him, i refused and was eventually saved by running off the train and him being unable to follow me
  • my mother being frightened by the incident, no longer allowed me to leave home and we decided that it was better for me to stay out of sight, so the attic become a place of hiding for me and my family, we ended up hiding in plain sight in our home until the end of the war, I was only 15 by the time it ended.
