- But Darling...
- Macbeth and Banquo, fresh from the battlefield, meet the three witches. They speak of a prophecy, one in which Macbeth will become Thane of Glamis and Cawdor and the King of Scotland! They also spark competition between Macbeth and Banquo.
- Macbeth is wary of the prophecy but his wife, Lady Macbeth, is hungry for power. She convinces her husband to kill the current king, Duncan, and rise to the throne.
- No man of woman born can harm you...
- The couple devise a plan: while Macbeth kills Duncan as he sleeps, lady Macbeth gets the king's guards drunk. They pose the bloody daggers with the guards, making them look very guilty. Duncan's sons flee, leaving Macbeth to take the crown.
- Fearful that his best friend will tell others what he heard of the prophecy, Macbeth decides to kill Banquo. After doing this, he sees the ghost of his friend at a banquet. This is when Macbeth begins to spiral.
- The witches appear to Macbeth a second time and this time, warn him of his downfall. He is not worried, as they warn him of when Burnham Wood moves towards Dunsinane.
- However, an army led by Macduff and Malcolm disguise themselves as part of the woods to advance on the castle. Macduff kills Macbeth as revenge for Macbeth ordering for Macduff's family to be killed. Lady Macbeth commits suicide.
