  • Cotton is a soft, fluffy , natural fiber. It grows in a boll (protective case) around the seeds of the cotton plants in the Southern US . Most of the cotton is grown in a variety called upland cotton. After the cotton is taken it is transferred to a facility and carded, combed and blended. Then a series of chemicals and heat are applied to the fabric. Which creates the final product. The seeds of the cotton are lab created in Wisconsin.

  • Spinning yarn is a big industry in Indonesia. It is very complex and the process is very high technology. It is mostly all done by machines, different brands do have different techniques they prefer used on there clothing for there "secret process". These machines are dangerous and something that is important to know your background information. The facility is strict with who is allowed in them but in Indonesia machinery is a big deal. Men are normally the workers in spinning cotton into yarn.
  • conclusion
  • Colombia and Bangladesh are one of the main locations the close that we get are sown. Many work in facilities with rows and rows of sowing machines. In these places many start working during the early teen years. All of the sowers are females. It is not an easy job to be doing and this job has long work hours of non stop sewing. It is very hard and the pay you receive from working is very low. Normally they are gaining $3 a day. Although Colombia and Bangladesh are working just as hard, Colombia is getting 4 times as much money which raises there standards of living much higher.
  • After the fabric has been sown together and is all set they load up all the planet t-shirts into boxes and place them in huge shipping containers. These containers make the global economy possible. Shipping containers first began to be used in the 1960's and have made it much easier to transport good sense then. The transportation normally takes a week back to Miami US. Then makes its way on train to the North. It is $0.07 per shirt to ship vs the amount to actually make them.
  • The final conclusion is that it is a lengthy process and all factors are needed to be able to make the transfers move efficiently. After that is all done it is transferred to wear houses that is moved to stores and purchased for us to wear.
