- This shows Papa mad at Jaja for not going to the communion with him at the very beginning of the book. This shows how the family is already having toxic problems. I included Papa throwing his missal and breaking the figures since they’re mentioned in the text.
- “Things started to fall apart at home when my brother, Jaja, did not go to communion and Papa flung his heavy missal across the room and broke the figurines on the etagere.” PG. 1
- This shows that Ifeoma’s house really saves different resources like water. Definitely in Nigeria, the bathroom looks way different then her families home. I included the plastic garbage bucket in the text that was included.
- “The room was so narrow I could touch both walls if I stretched out my hands. There were no soft rugs, no furry cover for the toilet seat and lid like we had back home. An empty plastic bucket was near the toilet. After I urinated, I wanted to flush but the cistern was empty; the lever went limply up and down. I stood in the narrow room for a few minutes before leaving to look for Aunty Ifeoma.” PG. 121
