In the Danish town of Roskilde, King Hrothgar built an amazing town hall called Heorot for his people where they could feast and be social. Shortly after this they had a magnificent feast to celebrate the opening of the hall.
Grendals Mum
Nearby there was a monster, the mighty beast called Grendel. He heard the towns people were feasting and got jealous, so he walked up to the hall and smashed the great door and charged into the hall killing thirty people. The king was devastated. The next evening the town was prepared. They wore their armour and brought their weapons. They waited until the monster smashed through the doors and when it did they battled Grendel with all their might. Still they lost. So they had to call on someone much better.....
Beowulf Slays the Beast Again
The fearsome warrior Beowulf heard that Grendel had been attacking the Danish so he sailed to Denmark to fight the brute. King Hrothgar believed he couldn't beat the beast. Beowulf proved him wrong by winning an epic fight and twisting Grendel's arm off, killing him with his bare hands! The beasts arm was nailed over the great door as a trophy of Beowulf's victory.
Happily Ever After
After Beowulf killed Grendel, they had a feast to celebrate their victory. However, their feast wouldn't even last one night. There was another monster lurking, seeking revenge. Grendel's mother stormed straight through the war torn great doors. She tore her son's arm off the archway and took one of the Danes. Soon they found out that the Dane was Ashhere, King Hrothgar's closet friend.
As soon as the king heard the news his eyes filled with tears and called on Beowulf to help. King Hrothgar told the mighty warrior about this and he quickly agreed to save the lost Dane. The king said that the the monster lived at the bottom of the lake. Beowulf set off to find it. When Beowulf got to the lake, the king gave him his sword. Beowulf swam to the bottom of the lake where the monster was said to be. Grendel's mother was at the bottom of the cave but the beast caught Beowulf in her grasp and he started to drown. The giant dragged him to the bottom of the cave where the warrior found a massive sword to kill the beast. Beowulf stabbed Grendel's mother killing her and claimed victorious!
Beowulf swam out of the water. They had a feast to celebrate their win. The Danes waved goodbye to Beowulf and they lived happily ever after.
