  • The purchasing decisions of a consumer affect sustainability and the extent of climate change, This is evident in the fact that 29% of global emissions are caused due to fossil fuel-run, and 86% of new cars purchased in 2023 were fossil fuel-powered cars. Unless the trend of buying products that cause climate change stops we cannot transition into a world where there is no climate change. At this rate,Scientists project the temperature of the earth will be 4 degrees above the average temperature today by 2100. This will accelerate climate change and put the lives of all species in those ecosystems in danger

  • The climate crisis cost India a deadly 5 million hectares of crop in 2021. This negatively impacts the livelihoods of farming communities and kills the people depending on it for their lives. The culprit behind the Australian bushfires which cost46 million acres of forest land and the loss of the rich ecosystem and biodiversity of the land, is also climate change.
  • The culprit behind climate change is consumerism and the consumer's purchasing decisions that are driven by their perspective. Consuming unsustainably sourced electricity, and using fossil fuels to power our lives all contribute to climate change and lead to the destruction of communities reliant on nature. So your responsibility as a consumer is to only use and buy sustainable products and remove as many polluting-unsustainable products as you can.
