- In Capernaum, Jesus was teaching people about God when a leper was spotted walking towards them. This leper was considered an outcast because of his disease; people believed that God gave him the disease because the man had sinned. People usually did not help out casts as it would be going against the purity system.
- See that you do not tell anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the gift Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.
- The leper went through the crowd and went to Jesus, he said 'if you are willing, please make me clean.'. Jesus looked at him and said 'I am willing'. Jesus put his hand over the outcast and said 'be clean'. The leprosy left the man and the outcast was cleansed of his sins.
- The crowd of believers and non-believers were skeptical of this miracle and shocked that Jesus would go against the purity system. The purity system was a rule that no-one 'clean' was to socialise with anyone 'unclean'. If a 'pure' person was found helping a outcast it would be labelled as an act of taboo. A taboo is a cultural or social custom prohibiting particular practises.
- I was just healed of my disease and cleansed of my sins! Jesus is my saviour!

- The man then thanked Jesus and left the crowd of people. He then made his way into the village.The man did not obey Jesus' orders and spread the word of the miracle through Capernaum.
- Jesus then found out about the man disobeying him, he went into hiding outside the village. The Sadducees were infuriated at the thought of anyone going against their beliefs in the purity system and their power.
