  • Lasting LegacyBy: Murli Pandey
  • On September 2, 1957 Governor Orval Faubos of Arkansas called on the National Guard to stop nine colored kids to enter an all-white high school known as Central High.
  • President Dwight Eisenhower did not agree with the Governor's stance. As a result, he sent troops to allow the 9 colored kids in the school.
  • Even though the colored kids were aloud to go to school, it was very difficult because the white kids called them names
  • One of the colored kids, Minnijean Brown, threw spaghetti on a white kid because the white kids were behaving cruel.
  • Because of the discrimination only 2 black kids remained in school and only one graduated, Ernest Green. Ernest Green became The Secretary Of Labor for Jimmy Carter. Melba Patillio became a reporter for NBC News. Unfortunately, Elizabeth Eckford attempted suicide twice.
  • The Nine Children of The Little Rock Nine have become an inspiration to many. Many of them are still alive. Even though the mission for desegregation wasn't very successful. It created a path for other kids to desegregate.
