Henry Ford was a pioneer in the manufacturing and automobile industry. Ford's assembly line helped transform the manufacturing world. Ford was able to produce the first automobile that was affordable for thousands of Americans. His legacy continues today through brands such as Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, Volvo, Mazda, and Land Rover.
Alexander Graham Bell was a pioneer in the communications world. Bell grew up with a deaf mother, which lead to him experimenting and researching the science of sound. Bell's experiments with sound and the telegraph wire lead to his breakthrough invention of the telephone. In 1877, he founded the Bell Telephone Company and forever changed how humans communicates with one another.
The cotton gin transformed the cotton production industry by expediting the process of removing seeds from cotton fiber. This lead to increased demand for slave labor in the South, which became a major catalyst for the American Civil War. Whitney also popularized interchangeable parts, allowing unskilled workers to fix and replace parts of weapons, machines, and tools faster and more cheaply.
