  • Evidence:“‘What a fish it was,’ the proprietor said. ‘There has never been such a fish’” (Hemingway p.g. 34 PDF). Explanation: The old man fought the fish until the very end, and in return he had brought back a fish larger than any the people at the Terrace had ever seen even though it was a skeleton he had the pride of catching something like that.
  • He wrote this book to entertain people about Santiago's struggles others may be able to relate to what Hemingway says.
  • These two fishermen represent the authors purpose because he had many struggles and people making fun of him because of his struggles caused more 
  • HaHa look at the old man coming in with no fish again he should just give up.
  • The intended audience of this book was fishermen because there are some parts in the story were people who were educated in fishing would understand and others wouldn't.
