Catherine sells Coolock
Catherine McAuley decided to sell the Coolock House to gain more money for the house of Mercy. And also to help her to feed the poor and hungry. She put it in the hands of God that she was able to sell Coolock for a good price.
Mary McAuley dies
Catherine's sister Mary suddenly became very ill and was not going to get better. Catherine was with her every step of the way, but Mary eventually died in August 1827. Mary's family didn't know how to cope with it and depended greatly on Catherine especially her husband
The house of Mercy was completed
The House of Mercy was finally completed on September 24, 1827. Catherine was very rejoiced that orphan girls would have a home, and young woman a job. A catholic school was now standing in fashionable Dublin street. She was so happy she was able to help so many women.
