- The East India Company was founded on December 31, 1600. It's purpose was originally just to trade with India, but it later accumulated a large army, and took over parts of India. They heavily taxed people, crushed revolutions of the Indian people, and brought much wealth to Britain.

- The Sepoy Mutiny was from 1857-1859. The Sepoys had enough of being ruled and mistreated by the British, and cartridges with cow and pig fat, that went against both Muslim and Hindu religions, were the last straw before a war. The Sepoy Mutiny later led to the end of the reign of the EIC, and the start of the Britain's direct rule of India.
