- What did you think of the Ted Talk video in Science Education?
- I thought it had a lot of great information about science instruction! I liked how he did science experiments on stage, it really helped me stay focused and interested in learning about the content.
- Yes! I think that learners would be more engaged with hands-on learning, it would also help students gain a deeper understanding of the topic and encourage them to ask questions.
- This type of teaching made me more interested in learning science and I think it could help me develop more skills.
- I agree. If my science class was taught like this, I think it would really help me use critical thinking skills more and I would have been more curious.
- Honestly, when I was in school science class was mostly lectures or reading and then once a month we would do hands-on projects. Science education could be improved by giving students the opportunity to be curious and test their own hypotheses.
- I hope this begins to change since so many jobs now are focused on science, such as engineering.
- Yes, I think why teachers do not often use hands-on learning in science because it can be time consuming, plus there are other subjects that need adequate lessons and there's only so many hours set aside for science each week.
- As a future educator, I want to inspire my students to be engaged in science class. After this TED Talk I want to put a lot of time and effort into planning my instruction.
- I want to incorporate a lot of hands-on learning, and demonstrations for my students. I don't want to fall into old patterns like my science teachers did because science is much more than just lectures, readings, and test.
