  • The Bully, the Bullied, and the Friend
  • Jimmy, a young, ambitious child lived in a village with his parents ever since he was born. The village was small and old.Houses were built next to each other, and everyone in the village knew oneanother. One could say that the village was a bit crowded, like a small homewhere all people know and care for one another. As for Jimmy himself, he helpedwith community work, took care of the elderly, and always helped those in need of help.
  • The village was a home to a small school where the children of the village studied. The students there already knew one another and even on summer break, they would spend their vacation together.
  • One day, summer vacation was finally over, and it was time to go back to school. Jimmy had just gotten into 6th grade and was very excited to see his friends again. The students went into their classes, and the teachers started to seat students. To his surprise, Jimmy was seated next to a new student. The new student seemed shy. He was more quiet and less excited than the other students.
  • The teacherwelcomed the students back to school and asked the new student to introducehimself. “M-my name is P-p-eter, I had just moved in into the uhhh v-villagewith my parents to live with my g-grandmother,” Peter said with a stutter. Sam,the big tough bully, mocked Peters stutter and said “N-nice to m-meet y-you.”The whole class started laughing. “Quiet class!” screamed Mrs. Johnson.
  • Three hourshave passed and not a single word was uttered by Peter. Recess came and all thestudents rushed outside of class to the playground. Peter however, decided tostay and eat in class. “No staying in the classroom during recess,” said thebig bully Sam as he grabbed Peter by his shirt and pushed him outside of class.Once again, the kids started to laugh at Peter as he cried and cried.
  • When the kidswent back to class, everyone was staring at Peter as his eyes were red and puffyfrom crying during recess. He did not dare tell the teacher or the principalwhat happened for he feared what Sam the bully would do to him. The day went byand Peter still did not talk to anyone or utter a single word. It was time forthe children to go home. Peter grabbed his bag and tried to leave the classbefore being confronted by bully Sam. However, Sam was seated in front of Peterand got to the door first. “No one leaves before me,” he said rudely as he leftthe class. At this point, Jimmy had heard what happened and asked Peter if Samthe bully was bothering him. “It’s n-nothing,” said Peter as he walked away.
  • Day 2 of schoolstarted and once again all the students went into their classes. Some time haspassed. “C-can I go t-t-to the bathroom?” Peter asked. Sam replied before theteacher could, “It’s may I go not can I go,” he said sarcastically. At thispoint, it was obvious to Jimmy that Sam had been bullying Peter. Jimmy tried toget Peter to open up again and he did.
  • “Let’s eattogether,” Jimmy said to Peter during recess. Peter shook his head inagreement. “What is bothering you?” Jimmy asked. “S-sam has been m-making funof my s-stutter.” Jimmy tried to comfort Peter by giving him some words ofrelief and he even tried to propose solutions to Peter. He told him that suchthings are not nice and that the school would definitely not tolerate suchbehaviors. Peter seemed happy and liked the idea, then a frown took over hisface. “What’s the matter?” Jimmy asked. “I’m afraid he will hurt me if I tellthe school what happened,” said Peter.
  • The next timeSam bullied Peter, he decided he would stand up for himself. Peter was playingwith his friends during physical education hour. The boys were playingfootball, and Peter and Sam were on opposing teams. Every time Sam and Peterran into each other, Sam would push Peter and he would fall over to the ground.
  • While Sam wasrunning, out of nowhere, he feels a push from behind. He fell to the ground andhurt his knee. He turns around, surprised, he sees Peter. Anger was written allover his face. He stood up and started to run towards Peter while he ran away. Hecould not catch him because of his badly bruised knee.
  • After the hourhad ended, Sam angrily went in to the principal’s office and showed her hisbadly bruised knee. “What happened?!” the principal asked shockingly. “Peterpushed me while we were playing football for no reason!” he answered.
  • The principalcalled Peter to her office to better understand what the motive behind the pushwas. Peter came in to the office and there was his bully, Sam, playing the roleof the victim. Sam gave Peter a stare and without saying a word, Peter alreadyknew what it meant. He was scared of what would happen if he told on him.“Explain yourself Peter,” said the principal. Peter did not answer and silencefilled the room. “This is your last chance to explain yourself Peter or elseyou will be expelled!” she yelled. “We tolerate no such behavior in our school, bullying and hitting others is not something appropriate between friends orbetween any two people for that matter!” Just like that, Peter was expelledfrom the school in which he had just gotten into.
