- Cell Theory
- I am Robert Hooke. In the year 1665 I created an improved design of the microscope and used it to examine what I later gave the name of cells, named after the cells where monks live.
- I am Antonie Van Leeuwenhoek. A decade or so later, I discovered bacteria and protozoa which I originally called animalcules. I am also a scientific genius, as I perfected the simple microscope.
- I, Theodore Schwann believed that cells crystallized from the material between other cells.
- We studied cells of animals and plants separately. We both discovered key differences between the 2 cell types. We did not fully understand how cells grow.
- I, Mattias Schlieden believed that cells were seeded from the nucleus and grew from there.
- In 1855 I, Rudolf Virchow discovered that all cells are generated by existing cells.
- Now kids everywhere in school get to use microscopes and learn about cell theory.
