  • The start of the fight between Tybalt and Mercutio.
  • "But I'll be hanged sir, if he wear your livery. Marry, go before to field, he'll be your follower. Your worship in that sense may call him 'man'."
  • "Well peace be with you, sir. Here comes my man."
  • Tybalt is trying to start a sword fight with Mercutio.
  • "I am for you."
  • (To Tybalt) "Come sir, your passado."
  • Benvolio arrives and realizes Mercutio is hurt.
  • "What, art thou hurt?"
  • "Courage, man. The hurt cannot be much."
  • "ay, ay, a scratch, a scratch, marry 'tis enough. Where is my page?- Go, villain, catch a surgeon.
  • Tybalt and Romeo are not getting along. Before this scene Tybalt demands that Romeo draws his sword and fights with him but Romeo refuses. In this scene Mercutio agrees that if Romeo will not draw his sword then Mercutio will.
  • Tybalt thinks that the best option to this argument is to start a sword fight so, he pulls out his sword and starts to antagonize Mercutio. Romeo does not want Mercutio to fight Tybalt because he knows it will cause more problems so he gets frustrated with Mercutio. Mercutio gets so angry with Tybalt so he decides to pull out his sword as well and fight.
  • "Gentle Mercutio, put thy rapier away."
  • Tybalt stabbed Mercutio in the stomach!! Romeo is disheartened by Tybalt actions and is desperate for Mercutio to push through the pain because Romeo knows that he is a strong man. Benvolio comes to the scene and is stunned by what has happened and asks if Mercutio is hurt.
