Rising Action- a related series of incidents or events that build toward the point of greatest interest. This is when every night the narrator goes into the old man's room to see if the eye was open. A quote from the rising action is,"But, the eye was always closed. This made it impossible for me to do. For it was not the old man who annoyed me. I was his Evil eye."
That evil eye
Climax- the turning point in a story. This is where the narrator kills the old man by suffocating him with the bed on top of him. One quote from the climax is,"I dragged him to the floor and pulled the heavy bed over him. Then I smiled the deed was almost done."
It is finally gone
Falling Action- starts to wrap up the story. This is when the narrator invited the police men into his home to search it. One quote is, "What had I to fear? Three policemen came in. A neighbor had heard a scream and had gone to the police station. These men had been sent the search the place. I smiled and invited them in."
