Did you know that wood frogs are able to survive low temperatures until 3 degrees Farenheit.
As winter gets near, I prepare for the intense cold weather! I begin to produce a large amount of urine to transport it to my blood. Let's dig a bit deeper to see what happens to my body.

The ice makes my cells lose its water supply, so to prevent my body from dehydrating completely, I use my urine with the sugars that my liver produces as an antifreeze (Homeostasis) to prevent the ice from destroying my cells.By preventing the ice from consuming more than 60% of my water, I prevent my cells from being destroyed. I can survive for months, by having this antifreeze allow me to stay warm, even after 2/3 of my body is frozen.
After a couple of minutes, my body begins to go into a "hibernation" type of mode. Unlike bears, my whole body stops working. That means my heart, lungs and more of my organs stop working,

After the whole winter, the temperature begins to warm up, and melts the ice and snow. My body is able to get water as it slowly flows back into my body. After 30 minutes my heart begins to restart, and blood starts to flow.
After two days, I leave my spot and begin to look for food, a mate and I take a very necessary leak.
