- There has been a battle with Scotland and Irish invaders. King Duncan is told Macbeth and Banquo showed courage and bravery in the battle. He then decides to reward Macbeth with the title 'Thane of Cawdor'.

- The three witches tell Macbeth and Banquo about their strange prophecies. All the prophecies may start to come true.
- Act 1, Scene 67
- Duncan thanks the two generals profusely for their heroism and bravery in the battle, and they both profess their loyalty and gratitude.

- Lady Macbeth reads Macbeth's letter which is stating the promotion to become Thane of Cawdor and him meeting the three witches.
- King Duncan goes to Macbeth's castle and is welcome by Lady Macbeth.Macbeth leaves the dinner because he is worried about his plan to murder King Duncan.
