- After John began kindergarten in Mrs. Smith class he engaged in aggressive behavior. He was non verbal and had no active forms of communication. His IEP was outdated from his last program. His parents alongside his education complete a SETT for 2 months and training for his aide Amy. Mrs. Smith conducted an ADDIE model to assisit John and his aide Amy

- Upon John learning ability the FCT methods assessed was a low tech (PECS) vs high tech (AAC) device while John received services from his speech therapist Amy was able to observe and be trained on the programs
- John received intensive training over the course of 2 months. Data was collected on his appropriate and correct usage of the PECS and AAC device. It was observed that John picked up on the AAC device quicker than the PECS. Amy also felt more comfortable using AAC to PECS as it required less manual labor/
- Amy received intensive training as well and upon completion worked closely with John and collected data on his usage of PECs and AAC and his increase or decrease in aggression. Highly preferred items were withheld until an appropriate mand was made then access to item given
- By following the design and objectives John saw a decrease in aggressive behavior and an increase in appropriate manding request. Amy felt comfortable assisting John with his device. She also become an advocate for assistive technology for other students.
